Women in Construction Week: HydroBlok Executive Featured on
Industry-Leading Podcast

Women now make up 11.7% of the U.S. construction workforce, reflecting steady industry progress. Lisa’s career highlights that momentum, emphasizing hard work, adaptability, and confidence. Her story reinforces that growth, diverse perspectives, and continuous learning are shaping the future of construction.

Recorded during Women in Construction Week (March 1–7, 2026), HydroBlok’s Chief Business Development Officer, Lisa Nelson, joined Eric Goranson (“Eric G”) on Around the House… America’s #1 national home improvement radio show and podcast.

With more than 1.3 million women now working in construction — up 45% over the past decade — it’s a timely conversation about where the industry is headed. And who’s helping lead it.

Lisa’s perspective has been shaped by years of experience in both sales and building materials… including cabinets, countertops and flooring. Her responsibilities at HydroBlok continue to expand into increasing roles designed to help drive HydroBlok’s business development and market expansion.

On the podcast, that experience is clear. Lisa and Eric G discussed the need for smarter construction products -- better contractor and homeowner education – as well as the importance of moving beyond outdated construction methods and process that can create risk on the job-site. For HydroBlok, that means helping to make waterproofing and insulation solutions more efficient, dependable and easier to adopt.

The conversation also reflected a broader industry trend. Women now represent 11.7% of the U.S. construction workforce -- up from roughly 9% before 2016 -- a meaningful sign of change in an industry that has long been male-dominated. Lisa’s career is a strong example of that momentum… pairing hard-earned experience with a willingness to step into new spaces, ask questions and keep building forward.

Her advice to women entering the field: Don’t be afraid to work really hard and show your value.” She emphasized the importance of speaking up, getting comfortable, being uncomfortable… and recognizing that the skills developed through life, work and perseverance all have value in construction.

Lisa's story is a reminder that the future of construction is being built by people willing to step into new opportunities and grow. Her career path — from flooring and cabinetry to waterproofing and insulation — reflects the same adaptability she encourages in others. For HydroBlok, that kind of perspective isn't merely a single success story. Rather, it's integral to how the company continues to approach the market: with better solutions, stronger education and a belief that the industry improves when more voices are part of the conversation.
