Lisa Nelson, HydroBlok's Chief Business Development Officer, brings over two decades of experience rooted in a simple conviction: the jobsite always tells the truth. Her listen-first approach drives everything at HydroBlok — no product reaches the roadmap without trade channel validation, and every concept is pressure-tested with architects, builders, and applicators across real-world conditions before it moves forward. Lisa sees the industry's challenges as its greatest catalyst for innovation, advocating for smarter, simpler systems and championing the growing presence of women in the trades. Above all, she's energized by building great teams and partnering with people who want to make a lasting impact — values that reflect exactly how HydroBlok operates.
Lisa Nelson, HydroBlok’s Chief Business Development Officer, didn’t set out to work in construction, but when the chance came to pair her sales background with a longstanding interest in building and remodeling, there was no hesitation. And more than two decades later, Lisa is still driven by the same conviction that shaped her start:
“The best ideas in this industry don’t come from the conference room. They come from listening. Atter all, the jobsite always tells the truth,” Lisa says.
It’s a belief that shapes how HydroBlok approaches everything from product development to the partnerships that move the company forward.
Nothing makes it onto the HydroBlok product development roadmap until the trade channel has recognized the need. What’s more, every concept is thoroughly vetted with architects, builders, and applicators before pilot projects are designed to pressure-test brand promises across multiple climate zones. “A product may sound perfectly suited on paper,” she explains, “but if it’s too difficult to install -- too heavy to manage or too complicated to repeat -- the crews on the job site will know immediately.”
It’s a discipline built on respect for the people doing the work, and Lisa recognizes the return-on-investment across the broader industry. “The challenges in building are also what’s driving innovation toward smarter, simpler systems products that are easier on the trades and better for the building owner.” She’s equally encouraged by the growing number of women entering the trades and is proud to promote, “We’re the consumers of the products being built. We ought to have a seat at the table.”
Ask Lisa what part of the job she enjoys most and the answer comes quickly, “Building a world-class team. This industry is hungry for change, and we’ve worked really hard to be fortunate with the right partners, people who want to make a big impact.”
Outside the office, Lisa is fueled by travel, a good book, long drives with the music cranked up. And anything that gets her rolling on the floor… laughing with friends and family.
For HydroBlok, Lisa’s perspective isn’t a single point of view. It’s a reflection of how the company is built by listening first -- simplifying where it counts -- and partnering with the people willing to propel the industry forward.
