The HYDRO-BLOK Shower System features a closed-cell, HCFC-free, XPS foam core and a custom engineered polymer-modified cement coating. Once installed using our Joint Sealant you get a fully waterproof line of shower pans, wallboards and accessories that are lightweight, strong and ready for your tile or stone creations and all backed by our Lifetime Limited Warranty.

Standard System Components
Center-Drain Shower Pans
All HYDRO-BLOK Shower Pans include a stainless steel drain cover and tray, mesh tape, putty knife, construction plugs, water test ball and complete installation instructions. Classic Shower Pans include a solid brass drain kit and customizable riser to accommodate varying tile thicknesses.
Our NEW Low-Profile Shower Pans can be combined with our Floor Lowering Kit for curb-less entry and include our drain hub with both lateral and height adjustment to accommodate tile layout and thickness.
Single Slope Shower Pans
HYDRO-BLOK Single Slope shower pans together with the HYDRO-BLOK Linear Drain by ebbe are a curbless shower solution. A nearly hidden drain along with the ability to use any size of tile or stone on your shower pan, allow for unique and elegant designs. The Linear Drain can be placed anywhere in a shower as it is easily customized to fit any shower space or size for either residential or commercial installations.
Single Slope Shower Pans are sloped toward the first dimension listed. Thin Single Slope Shower Pan models allow installation where only the drain area of the subfloor needs to be lowered.
Wall Panels and Backer Boards
HYDRO-BLOK Wallboard makes installing a HYDRO-BLOK shower simple. It is lightweight and easily cut with a utility knife or power saw and attached to the studs with our screws and washers.
HYDRO-BLOK Building Board allows you to easily create stunning custom shower features such as benches in no time at all. Our 1/4″ Board can be used for waterproofing your entire bathroom floor when installing curb-less entry showers.

HYDRO-BLOK Thin Single Slope Shower Pans require only the drain area to be lowered to provide a simple option for barrier free showers in new or renovation installations.
With the HYDRO-BLOK Floor Lowering Kit, your shower area can be set up for a barrier free installation in no time at all. Easily installed clips allow the subfloor to be installed flush with the existing joists to allow curb-less, flush entry to your shower without major structural changes.

How much weight can HYDRO-BLOK products support?
Our foam is an extruded XPS closed cell foam that is 100% waterproof with a very high compression strength. Our fibreglass mesh and polymer modified cement provide additional rigidity and strength. For questions about specific applications, please contact us.
Can I build custom benches and other in-shower structures with HYDRO-BLOK?
Yes. HYDRO-BLOK is a building material that is lightweight and very easy to handle and cut. With our 1 1/2″ or 2″ building board, you can build just about any feature in a shower. Your HYDRO-BLOK dealer or representative can provide additional tips on constructing all types of shower and bath structures.
How does HYDRO-BLOK joint sealant work and how long does it last?
Our joint sealant is manufactured in the USA from one of the top producers of modified urethanes and comes with a 25-Year manufacturers warranty. After your installation is complete and the joint sealant has skinned over, which usually takes about 30 minutes at room temperature, you can apply thinset for your stone or tile.
Is HYDRO-BLOK fire rated or resistant?
Yes. HYDRO-BLOK foam is specially made and will not burn or contribute to flame spread. See our Training page for the latest certifications or test results.
Can HYDRO-BLOK be used outdoors?
Yes, HYDRO-BLOK can be used outside as it is freeze/thaw stable. Please check with your local building codes and inspectors to confirm all rules and requirements.
Can I use HYDRO-BLOK for a steam shower?
Yes, but after installation to get the required perm rating, you will need to apply a liquid membrane or similar product as your final step before tile or stone application. We do not recommend a specific brand, however there are several professional brands of membranes available that will work well with our products.

HYDRO-BLOK is easy to work with and install. It can be installed by trades or DIY-ers in most situations without specialized training. What kind of warranty does HYDRO-BLOK have?

After installation of the HYDRO-BLOK components, do you need to apply a final coat of waterproofing like a liquid membrane?
No. Once you have completed an installation and completely followed our installation guidelines, your shower or tub surround is completely waterproof and has vapour barrier built into the board. There is no need for any further waterproofing for a standard installation.
Can I use HYDRO-BLOK outside of my shower area, to build a tub surround?
Yes. HYDRO-BLOK is extremely versatile and can be used in a wide variety of applications including your new construction or newly renovated tub surrounds. See our Training page for our latest installation guide for tub surrounds.
Does HYDRO-BLOK provide any R-Value?
Yes. Because of our dense closed-cell foam core, HYDRO-BLOK products do provide some additional R-value but it should not be relied on to replace proper insulation products & practices.
How large can I make my shower?
HYDRO-BLOK is available in 13 standard shower pan sizes from 3’ x 3’ all the way to 5’ x 7’. And if that isn’t big enough, we have a complete line of shower extensions to meet any custom size requirements with the proper slopes.
