How To Know When It’s Time To Remodel Your Shower

Jul 6 2022

There’s one main thing to know about when it is time to remodel your shower: it’s probably sooner than you think.

While you might be delaying a shower remodelling due to costs or time issues, waiting many longer could increase your costs — and the time needed to do a remodelling.

Here are just a few signs that it’s time to start thinking about remodelling your shower.

1. Fixtures Not Working Like They Should

Do you find that you don’t get quite the same water pressure as you used to from your shower head? Or does it take more time and effort to completely stop the water from running after you take a shower?

A ‘yes’ answer to either of those questions can be a sign that it’s time to remodel. If you don’t do do sooner than later, you may start using more water than you should, which can not only increase your water bills, but your energy bills too — because a lot of that water will be hot water.

2. Difficulty Getting the Shower Clean

Remember when you first moved into your new house, or the last time you updated your shower? It was so easy to clean! But now, even after scrubbing, the rust and calcium stains don’t budge. Not only are you probably working too hard and using a lot of cleaners, those cleaners are full of toxic chemicals that are not good for you.

3. Damaged Shower Door

The reason you have a shower door is to keep water inside the shower. A damaged or ill-fitting shower door can lead to excess water on the floor. In turn, that can lead to damaged floors, extra cleaning requirements and even mold growth. Time for a new shower.

4. Mold Growth

Speaking of mold, did you know that it can trigger sneezing, coughing, congestion, skin irritation, sore throats, eye irritation and wheezing? And the symptoms can be worse for anyone who suffers from asthma and allergies. If you see any black mold around the base of your shower, inside the shower or outside of it, you should get rid of it as soon as you can.
